WISH Angus Hughson - March 2016
Bright, deep ruby in colour, this is pure McLaren Vale, with layers of ripe, lush dark cherry and blackberry fruits supported by supple tannins, making for a great value, early drinking style.
The Vino Geek - October 2015
A young vibrant red with a nose of strawberry and red berries. Somewhat lighter than perhaps what I'd expect from a McLaren Vale Shiraz. Good acidity and a really genuine earthiness on the palate. Gentle and soft tannins that leads to more of a drink now wine, but would still cellar well for a few years with that acidity. I certainly would be happy with this as a wine on the dinner table any night!
QWine - October 2015
From certified organic vineyards, this is the entry level wine for Gemtree. Made more for immediate enjoyment, this is a fruit driven wine. Aged in French oak for twelve months with only 10% being new. Dried red flower perfume, red fruits, red currants, a little oak influence and savoury spices to finish. It is certainly not as gutsy as the 14.5% would suggest. It's just a good honest wine. Drink now or cellar for a couple of years.
NZ Police News - Keen on Wine Ricky Collins - July 2015
This wine is vivid and dark red in colour. It has an interesting nose with red fruits, spiciness and some savouriness. There are beautifully lifted notes of red and black fruits, dark chocolate, spice and a touch of black pepper on the palate. It's concentrated and well balanced. There is some chary oak there, but the concentrated fruit and spice ensure it's well balanced. It finishes nicely with the sweet fruit and fine tannins lingering for some time. Rated: 4 stars
The Wine Front Campbell Mattinson - March 2015
McLaren Vale shiraz. As we know and love it. Medium- to full-bodied. Milk and dark chocolate, blackberry and plum, smoky cloves. It's a familiar and much loved flavour profile, and here it's done well. Value is very good. There's enough fruit richness to sink your teeth well and truly into. Rated:90/100
Raymond Chan Wine Reviews - November 2014
Full, very dark, near saturated black-red colour with purple hues. The nose is full and smoothly presented with harmoniously interwoven aromas of ripe, dark raspberry fruit, dark plums and nuances of boysenberries, unfolding florals, pepper and cedary oak. Full-bodied, fleshy, succulent and juicy flavours of ripe blackberries, raspberries and pepper full the palate. The fruit is supported by significant tannin extraction providing a robust structure. The fruit has vibrancy and brightness, enlivened by fresh acidity, lending a lusciousness to the mouthfeel, but the tannins grow forming a firm, fine-grained core that leads to a long and sustained, textured finish with raspberry, spice and liquorice notes. This is a vibrantly fleshy and juicy, sweet-fruited Shiraz with black and red fruits, and plenty of grunty tannin structure. Match with roasted game meat dishes over the next 8-9+ years. 100% McLaren Vale Shiraz fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine spending up to 12 days on skins and aged 12 months in French oak from barriques to puncheons. Australian Certified Organic. 18.5-/20, 5 Stars
Gourmet Traveller Magazine Peter Bourne - August 2014
The Buttery family are committed to sustainable grape growing; their vineyards have been certified organic and they've followed biodynamic principles since 2008. The Bloodstone comes from the original Tatachilla Road vineyard and their home site at McLaren flat. Perfumes of dark plum and dusky spices mingle with elements of fresh earth and ironstone, which flow effortlessly to a rich mouth-filling palate defined by fine grainy tannins and a slick of seductive oak.An eminently suitable red for a decent meat pie and sauce.
Tastings.com - World Value Wine Challenge - August 2014
Blue violet opaque ruby color. Fruity aromas and flavors of ripe mulberries, blackberry cobbler, wood smoke and minerality, and subtle pepper with a lightly tannic, crisp, dry-yet-fruity full body and a complex medium-length finish with moderate oak. A big red that will improve with air and decanting.
Testimonial Jennie Bergenholtz - April 2014
My husband and I just enjoyed a bottle of your Bloodstone Shiraz together with some friends. This is just to let you know, that here, on the other side of the planet, a group of people really appreciate your work and your environmental engagement and are grateful that people around the world share our concern for the common future.

One of the best reds I've tried!
We absolutely love McLaren Vale Shiraz here at Cracka Wines because it is one of the finest local Shiraz styles, made to be generous, mouthfilling and super satisfying. Made from biodynamically grown grapes this is a very big boy indeed ¨C deeply flavoured blueberry fruit, chunky and full flavoured finishing with some fine tannins too. To drink this buy the biggest steak you can find, grill it on the barbeque and enjoy with what is certainly a meatlover's kind of wine.
